Often: Oral contraceptive or birth control pills stop a woman's body from ovulating, thereby preventing pregnancy but also stopping mid cycle pain and usually making periods a lot lighter and shorter and often cramp free. The other important thing to know is that low vitamin d levels will make cramps worse. So if you don't get 1-2 hours of sunlight daily, take 2000 iu vitamin d3 daily.
