Possible.: Anytime you are sexually active pregnancy is possible. But, not likely if your friend is taking her oral contraceptive daily as prescribed. Microgestin is a combination pill containing low dose estrogen which is likely why she bled mid cycle. If bleeding is occurring mid cycle in future months, talk with doctor about a slightly higher estrogen containing oral contraceptive like 30 mcg.

Microgestin: Microgestin comes in a 1/20 and a 1.5/30 formulation. If there is light mid cycle bleeding my guess is she is on the 1/20 formulation and this does may not be enough to stabilize the lining of her uterus causing some mid cycle bleeding. Other things can cause bleeding as well (polyps, infection, and others) thus eval with her gyn is important to eval this further. Hope this helps. Best of luck
