What would be the difference in symptoms between a stress fracture and a growth plate fracture cause by overuse/repetitive motions ?

Very similar: You can have swelling, achy pain with either injury. The difference would only be in the actual location of the injury. A growth plate fracture can present as a stress fracture. But a stress fracture can occur in any bone.
