A member asked:

I am on a coil contraceptive....and i found out i am 12 days pregnant...is my baby safe or will it be deformed??? should i keep it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Have coil removed: In a pregnancy with a coil in place, its best to have the coil removed right away. In a pregnancy with no coil, the chance of a miscarriage is 20%. If you remove the coil in early pregnancy, the chance of miscarriage is only slightly higher (25%). If you leave the coil in, risk of miscarriages is 50%. A coil makes you high-risk for an Ectopic Pregnancy as well. You need to see your Ob ASAP
