Infant constipation : Formula fed babies often have less bowel movements than breastfed babies. It can take a little while for the infant stomach to get used to formula. You can try gas drops (simethicone) once or twice a day with babies bottle. This may help ease tummy troubles likely caused by formula. Please keep in mind that 3 bowel movements per week would be Normal for a formula fed infant.

Constipation: Infants normally work really hard to have a bowel movement, so straining at the stool isn’t necessarily alarming. Try giving him a little pear juice. The sugars in fruit juice aren’t digested very well, so they draw fluid into the intestines and help loosen stool. You can give 1 ounce a day for every month of life up to about 4 months. Use baby lax if no stools for more than 48 hrs.
