Cellulitis : Cellulitis can be very painful depending on severity. The more severe, the longer the healing time. There are, however, different causes. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) treats one of those causes. If you are not seeing any improvement after 24 hours, your doctor may add or change your antibiotics. It is possible.: You may experience a significant amount of pain when you have an infection. I will usually take longer than a day to notice significant improvement. If you do not see significant improvement after a day or two of oral antibiotics, have it re-evaluated.
