Not the amoxicillin: The timing is off. You are not experiencing an antibiotic allergy. An antibiotic allergy occurs either immediately (shortness of breath, throat swellingz),or else over the course of a few days (itching, hives); while on it; in your case. You were already off the medication for over a day before the rash developed- something else caused your rash.

Penicillin Allergy: Penicillin antibiotics are the most common cause of drug allergies. Some people who are allergic to penicillin are also allergic to other closely related antibiotics, including cephalosporins, such as cephalexin, cefprozil, and cefuroxime. Ask your pharmacist or doctor about these antibiotics.
