Nasal Source Likely: Increased nasal drainage due to irritants, or allergens. The drainage causes post-nasal drip/drainage, irritates the throat and causes cough. On a normal day we produce approx 1 liter of mucous, which we politely swallow without saying YUCK! When there is a cold virus, or and irritant, or allergen, this number multiplies, and either our noses run and drip, get stuffy, or post nasal draining.
