See your doctor: It's not likely that friction burns could cause scar that would persist for years, unless the burn was so severe that your pain would have put you in hospital. Without a thorough physical examination, it's really not possible to know what you really have, much less what might help. Hence, I recommend you go see your doctor, and look further into this.
