What is anemia megaloblastica?

Well...: Megaloblastic Anemia is when your red blood cell in the blood is low, and the size of the red cells is too large. This is usually due to either Vitamin B-12 deficiency, or Folic acid Deficiency. The level of both should be tested, and the deficient one replaced.

Megaloblastic anemia: Megaloblastic anemia (or megaloblastic anaemia) is an anemia (of macrocytic classification) that results from inhibition of DNA synthesis during red blood cell production.[1]The defect in red cell DNA synthesis is most often due to hypovitaminosis, specifically a deficiency of vitamin B12 and/or folic acid.

Large red cells: This is a form of anemia, or low hemoglobin, caused by overproduction and release into the blood of immature, enlarged red cells from bone marrow into the blood. These crowd out the normal red cells and cause anemia. Most common causes are vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency. There are other causes also. See your doctor to figure out the cause and treatment. Good luck!
