Toothpaste & acne: The idea behind using toothpaste is the abrasive effect on the skin to clear the lesions. I suggest using a product specifically designed for use on the skin, as there are additives in toothpaste that could be very irritating to the skin. Better yet, talk to your doctor about medication to control/treat your acne.

No!, No! NO!: No, toothpaste only belongs in the mouth and not as a dermatology product. Blackheads can be removed with soap and water and an exfoliating mask product. The blackheads form when you don't regularly clean your face of oils and dead skin cells. You can find these exfoliating masks in CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc and in some of the higher end cosmetic shops in malls, such as Body Works.

Not recommended: People who are susceptible to blackheads will probably have very sensitive skin and irritating it with toothpaste is the last thing you want to do. The toothpaste can damage your skin permanently. There are many effective treatments available for blackheads. Ask your doctor for more information.
