Itch: Itching no matter the cause is typically treated with antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Claritin. You can give Benadryl (diphenhydramine) safely. Look at the bottle and age appropriate dose. If he is too young, try 1 percent topical cortisone cream, which will help but not last as long.
