Sepsis: Sepsis is a process. It is a physiological situation that comes on as a result of trauma to tissue. You already know the source of the sepsis. There is not another source.

I am guessing that if an elderly person (not me) has COPD & a pleural effusion (even if the person doesn't have a lung infection) then this would make it harder to survive sepsis. But if so, would either be likely to make a significant difference?

3yrs boy gets dry cough every month for 10 days, then 39C fever, phlegm, then chesty cough. Flu panel neg on all occasions, RSV pos only once. Allergy panel neg. Chest x-ray clear. Lungs always clear. What reasons for 12 upp respi infections a year?
Do i need to wait until my lung infection clears up before getting a chest X-ray to check for cancer? Would the infection mask the cancer on x-ray?
