Severe pain: If you feel your pain is severe then the ER is always an option. The problem with the ER is that you are not likely to see a gynecologist. If the pain is not severe you are likely to get better answers from seeing a gynecologist in the office to evaluate the cyst and to put a plan of care in place.

Primary Care: No. Absolutely not. ER is for life threatening conditions. You have a persistent primary care problem that should be addressed by your Gynecologist or Family Doctor. You have constipation (laxatives and water) and a urinary tract infection. Please contact your family physician for instructions.

Severe pain--> ED: Have you called your gynecologist? Frequently, the ER will recommend a provider if you do not have one. If you are in severe pain, you should consider returning to the ED for further evaluation. Some ovarian cysts will resolve on their own. Others will require surgical evaluation. Only a physician who has reviewed the ultrasound and examined you can help formulate the best treatment plan.
