A member asked:

Please tell my teen this is how to get real sick (foodborne illness) = eat from street vendors. am i right?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Sorry, it's not always true. Street vendors may or may not be licensed. Those that are have to pass inspections just as stringent as restaurants. Most cases of food-borne illness occur from eating home-cooked meals. Are you going to tell your teen not to eat at home? The take-home message is know your food sources, prepare and store hygienically and cook appropriately.
