Scrapes: You can take OTC pain medication such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache. Topical anesthetics such as Orajel can also help. Avoid spicy, acidic foods and see your dentist if the pain does not resolve quickly.

Scrape in hard: palate . Usually such wounds look much worse than they are in reality. Rinse your mouth with worm salt water 3 X per day. OTC pain relievers such as Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil will help to control discomfort. Keep a good oral hygiene. It will take about 2 weeks to heal. Do not hesitate to see your dentist if the wound does not seem to be healing well or it takes more than 2 weeks. Good luck.
