Yes, and yes: Depot Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can change your mood and cause spotting (the brownish discharge is solely just old blood). It also can cause absence of a period. All of the symptoms you describe (fortunately, or unfortunately) are normal.

Depo: Yes the Depo-Provera shot can make you irritable since it will affect your hormone levels, for this same reason you may be spotting and you at also stop getting your period altogether. Take care!

Yes: Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is Progesterone, it is normal to have irregular spotting/periods(brown discharge is usually old blood) to no period at all. The shot usually lasts for 3 months (provided you got a three month Depo-Provera shot).
