Sometimes when standing, hr jumps from 75- to 140+, then quickly settles. doc says it's nothing to worry about, as tests negative. surely not normal?

Normal Only = Common: Medical industry defines "normal" as average to include the central 96%of any given variable; has little to do with health. Heart rate controlled by mind/brain via thousands of orders/sec. Thus heart rate a result; not a cause. You made no mention of specific "tests". Medicine simplistic compared with the vehicle embodied by a Soul which we drive for a lifetime; tests: limited scope & accuracy.
