Spinal arthritis: Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory arthritis of the spinal joints, sacroiliac joints and peripheral joints. It can lead to impaired painful motion, and even fusion of affected joints It is one of the spondyloarthritides which include varients of psoriatic arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Treatment is NSAIDS and even the biologic drugs including Enbrel (etanercept). Exercise to maintain ROM.
