Avoid the flush: Most people dose Niacin to just under the dose that gives them the flush - not because it's harmful, but because, if you take it everyday as is needed to be beneficial, the flush gets old really fast. Most people can tolerate between 1,000 and 2,000 mg. You'll do better if you take your Niacin with an Aspirin tablet (try 325 mg) and on a full stomach. Why not just try a low fat diet?

Niacin.: Supplementing with 2000-3000mg of flush free Niacin daily can help to control your cholesterol levels quite nicely, even increasing your HDL and converting your LDL to a less harmful subtype. As a negative, Niacin can cause facial flushing and redness so get the flush free variety. And have your liver enzyme values monitored, as they can be affected by Niacin use. Increase dose 250mg monthly.
