Seizures.: Common side effects of this antihistamine include, tardive dyskinesia, confusion in the elderly, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, vertigo, respiratory depression, constipation, euphoria, and short temper/irritability. Rare side effects include seizures, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a life-threatening neurological disorder. Because of capacity for more severe side effects, avoid in elderly.
