A 10 ON BAD SCALE: If at all possible you want to avoid this possibility.The germ has a habit of entering the babies brain and destroying tissue. The appearance on a CT scan on survivors is like Swiss cheese. Permanent disability is common. Even early recognition and treatment does not assure a good outcome.
