Yes: Excessive alcohol consumption clearly leads to brain cell injury and , over time, can lead to a type of brain damage called encephalopathy. It can also lead to seizures ("rum fits"). This kind of drinking causes damage to other parts of the body as well. Primarily, the liver and kidneys. It can cause anemia and depress the immune system. Brain injury occuring while drinking leads to a worse outcom
