Hormonal changes: It's not unusual to have an irregular bleeding pattern for the first few months of taking a new birth control pill. This can occur for up to 3 months after starting before normalizing. According to the published literature, about 24-35% of women experience unscheduled or irregular bleeding during their cycle while on this pill.

Breakthrough bleed: If you didn't miss any pills, then this is breakthrough bleeding. With low dose BCPs, sometimes the lining becomes unstable and you bleed. It doesn't effect the birth control aspect.if it happen frequently, you may need to switch pills.
