Not uncommon...: In general, it is not uncommon for some women to have irregular bleeding when on low dose oral contraceptive pills (OCPs). The way OCPs work is by overriding the normal hormonal cycle and thereby suppressing ovulation but sometimes the woman’s own hormonal clock is stronger than the pill and this leads to ineffective menstrual control. The solution in general is to increase the potency of the OCP.
