What is brain freeze: Brain Freeze is not a medical term or any that I am familiar with. Kidney pain is in the lower back. Sometimes when you drink a very cold drink it will cause headache pain but it is short lived. If your friend has persistent headaches it is not from the drink. She should go see a doctor for a full evaluation.
