Rethink weak/strong: Instead of thinking in terms of weak/strong - think about what types of bugs vanc is appropriate for. When doctors say an antibiotic is strong we usually mean 1) it's very good at treating the type of bug you have, 2) it might have more side effects than other common antibiotics. Vancomycin is used for MRSA or c.Diff infections and b/c given iv, can have more side effects than, say penicillin.
