Menopause: Ruth, at 53 years and no menses, you are likely in perimenopause or menopause (if periods have been absent for more than 12 months). Menopause usually onsets around 50-51 years of age. Unless you have seen your doctor and know that your hormone levels are truly in the menopause range, there is still a (low) chance of becoming pregnant. It is uncommon to become pregnant without help after 40.
