A member asked:

Does alcohol (2-3 beers) interrupt with protein absorption or inhibit muscle growth in any way? i weightlift 5 times.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Alcohol can be toxic to muscles, poisoning the mitochondria, which are the little energy factories in our cells. The overwhelming majority of athletic trainers strongly recommend either complete abstinence during training, or at most a very occasional drink. 2-3 beers per day represents unsafe drinking in men, and may impair your ability to add muscle and strength.
