Are home pregnancy test realiable?

Very reliable: Today's home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test will give a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (or when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.

Pregnancy Tests: Very accurate. But, you have to do them at a time that they will work. That means after you have missed a period and when you had a sexual encounter during your fertile days of the menstrual cycle.

Yes: A home pregnancy test is quite accurate, but not quite 100%. If you are concerned that a home pregnancy test may not be telling you the truth, a sensitive blood test can give an accurate answer.

Take a test : Don't guess. Take a test. In today's world you do not need to wonder if you are pregnant or not based on symptoms. Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Need a 'control': The test will explain in their instructions, but one thing is universal. There will be 2 indicators. The most important is that there is a 'control.' that is an indication to you that the test is working and should give you an accurate result. After you see that come up then you look to see if it is 'positive' (pregnant) or 'negative' (not pregnant).
