Help please! is esophageal cancer hereditary?

For now, No: Multiple medical studies have shown that having an immediate family member with cancer, such as mother or father does not appear to have any affect on increasing the risk of having esophageal cancer. There are few studies showing otherwise. Because of conflicting information, as you read on official cancer websites, they will not mention hereditary as a factor for now.

Possibly: There is growing data linking some esophageal cancers to mutations in her-2-neu cell receptor (protein). Mutations in this receptor may be hereditary.
