Not recommended: There has been little research conducted on this subject. However, the advice given by many of the manufacturers is that you should avoid drinking alcohol while on antibiotics and for 48 hours after finishing the course of the treatment. Remember: moderation is the key.

Yes, in moderation: Contrary to popular beliefs, almost no antibiotics interact with alcohol and certainly there is no problem with oral penicillins like Pen VK (phenoxymethyl penicillin). Heavy alcohol impairs the immune system's ability to fight infection, but alcohol in moderation makes no difference.
