A member asked:

Please tell me can halo nevus be a sign of skin cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not generally: A halo nevus is a benign pigmented spot that has a pale ring around it. Usually this a sign that your immune system is attacking the pigment cells and the nevus may actually disappear. It is not typically a bad sign, but it is often considered for biopsy because a changing mole may suggest that it is transforming from totally benign to premalignant.
