Usually not: The cause is unknown although one may speculate that food allergies may play a role. If you end up losing blood with this condition, the anemia needs be taken care of. You do need to consult a GI doctor familiar with this condition to control the inflammation. There is no evidence that this will significantly impact your lifespan.
