Yes: Only the outer third of the meniscus has a blood supply. If there is a tear in this region it has a chance to heal. However if ur tear occurs in the part of the meniscus that is avascular (no blood supply) then it won't heal. This doesn't mean u will always be affected by a tear. Symptoms can be treated!
