Cause for concern: An elevated lipase level in a child is cause for concern. A more intensive work up should be initiated to find the cause and treatment.

Lipase levels: High lipase levels can cause abdominal pain accompanied by loose stools. High levels of lipase usually indicates damage to the pancreas. As such, your child should be tested for cystic fibrosis
