What causes a white covering on the tongue? and, is it medically dangerous or alarming? it can't be removed despite frequent brushing of tongue

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fungal infection : One possibility is chance of fungal infection which can be treated with oral medications such as Nystatin or flucanazole ... If that's the case you should be screened for systemic diseases such as HIV (IF you gave the risk factors ) I would suggest a visit to your PCP soon .
