Yes: As with most viral infections you usually have 'global' symptoms (aches, pains, fever, etc). So it is very common with an outbreak of genital herpes to have lumbar and groin pain, tender lymph nodes, fatigue, etc. The viral symptoms last a few day but the rash itself may last longer.
