A member asked:

Is it possible to not get sick from drinking alcohol while taking flagyl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Flagyl or Metronidazole inhibits an enzyme that facilitates the metabolism of a byproduct of alcohol metabolism that causes all of those effects when drinking alcohol on top of flagyl: flushing, discomfort, nausea, etc. It is best to finish your course of flagyl, wait about a week and you resume drinking alcohol responsibly.
