Ob ultrasound: OB ultrasounds are most accurate for dating purposes early in the pregnancy 6-8 weeks. As the pregnancy progresses we are not able to get as good a view and the variations in fetus growth make later ultrasounds difficult interms of dating a pregnancy (how far along you are). Later ultrasounds are more used for detecting problems
