Seborrhea: There are many causes, but the most common is seborrhea (or seborrheic dermatitis), especially if your scalp is also dry and/or itchy. A good anti-seborrheic shampoo like selsun blue, plus otc Hydrocortisone cream, should control it. If not, something else is going on and you should see a dermatologist for an in-person exam.
