Breakthrough: This sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Dark brown is typically only old blood and nothing to be too concerned about. Sometimes breakthrough bleeding just due to changes in hormones. See a doctor if it continues and bothers you, birth control pills can help regulate. Ibuprofen, 600mg for your cramping will also help. Good luck
