Slow down progressio: Enzymes break down the signaling chemical (neurotransmitter) between cells so enzyme inhibitors are used to increase the amount of chemical signal. Examples of these cholinesterase inhibitors are donepezil, galantamine (galantamine hydrobromide) & rivastigmine. Memantine is in a class by itself, blocking NMDA receptors.
