Depends where: Holes in retina come on certain locations and specific circumstances. If the hole is on the macula, surgery is advisable. If the holes are actually peripheral tears of the retina laser or cryogenic surgery is appropriate to try and prevent retinal detachment. If the holes are atrophic or part of lattice degeneration they can usually be observed without treatment. See a retina specialist !
