It depends: Infantile spasm is a serious epilepsy syndrome that occur mostly during the first year of life, the diagnosis depends on the history and description of the events, recording the event by video cam it helps a lot and the typical eeg findings of hypsarrhythmia confirm the diagnosis. The common presentaion is head bobbing with arm extension or flexion coming as clusters of many events together.

Get EEG: An EEG will differentiate between infantile spams and benign myoclonus. You should do this ASAP since those children with infantile spasms early hav the best chance of a good outcome
