Thermostat Setting: Fever is when you body's thermostat is set higher than normal. When the thermostat in your house is raised, the heat goes on to increase the temperature. "Chills" is how your body generates heat - basically your muscles produce that extra heat. The "Cytokines" released by your body in response to any infection appear to regulate this thermostat. BTW "Fever Breaks" when you sweat to cool down.
