A member asked:

Can you tell me how the muscles of the iris change the size of the pupil?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Radial: The iris muscles which respond to more and less light, are radial in position. The resting position is the normal size of the pupil in normal light and with less light, the muscles contract and open the pupil. Since they are radial (like the spokes on a bike), they open and close the iris in a circular pattern. Very clever mechanism.
