A member asked:

What can cause intense pelvic cramping after sex? lasts about 20 minutes, no relation to cycle?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many things: Semen contains a chemical inflammatory hormone called prostaglandin. This makes some women cramp after intercourse. You can decrease the cramping by taking Ibuprofen (a prostaglandin inhibitor) prior to intercourse. There are many other things can cause this type of cramping. An infection, endometriosis, pelvic floor prolapse... to name a few. If it is persistent, see your Ob/Gyn.
