Anxiety & depression: Inflammatory bowel disease (ibd) is a group of diseases including crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and other types of colitis. The problem is the treatment and the side effects cause depression and anxiety. There is an association of flare ups of ibd with anxiety and depression. Depressed ibd patients run the risk of decreased treatment adherence.
