Weight gain: Pregnancy at age 42 is not the most common cause of weight gain. If the test is negative and you have not missed a period, consider your diet and activity levels first.

Diet and exercise: There are many other reasons for gaining weight besides pregnancy. You may want to begin tracking your calories. A primary care doctor can help you with this.
